It was N350k – Ubi Franklin to take legal action against lady who dragged him over N500k debt

Music executive, Ubi Franklin has revealed that he will seek redress in court over the accusation by one Orebamz who claimed he is owing her payment for the services she rendered.

Ore, who is a web designer said Ubi contacted her with Iyanya’s Instagram account and asked her to work on a website for him, but after doing the design work, he refused to pay her N500,000 as agreed.

Orebamz wrote in part; “Please help me tell @ubifranklin1 to pay the money he owes me. In January, Mr Ubi Franklin reached out to me through @Iyanya ‘s twitter account to tell me there were a few projects he wanted us to work on. Of course I was excited to see @Iyanya ‘s dm and was happy to work together. Still using Iyanya’s account he told me to message Ubi Franklin on WhatsApp and gave me his number. I sent him a message on WhatsApp and he told me to check out a website, he wanted to add some functionalities

I guess there was a misunderstanding of roles as what he wanted to do required a developer, but I explained to him clearly that I’m a designer, I pointed out the faults in the website design and told him it could be better…

“…I thought he was an honorable man. Please all I want is for him to pay me what he owes me. I’m a quiet and peaceful young woman, trying to make ends meet. Ubi Franklin should not try to oppress me, I did not beg him for money, it’s my hard earned money and my right.”

In reaction, Ubi vowed to use her to set a precedence by taking legal steps to ensure the matter is squashed. The Triple MG boss also shared his own side of the story.

“I must set a precedent on this case. I’d love to hear what her lawyer’s defense will be,” he said.

Leadership exposed me to problems, they put you in the ring and ask you to defend yourself. I have been briefed about this post trending on Twitter and I’d like to quickly address it, though I think it might get to more or less of those who have so far seen the post.

I have since 2021 built a proptech platform and it’s been live since then. I was catching up with a senior friend on the platform in January 2023 and what I’d like to do with it, while we were talking he mentioned a certain lady on Twitter who her tweets always popup on his timeline and will like to give her a job, I asked for her name and I had to dm her through Iyanya’s Twitter because my phone was down and Iyanya was there and phone was on. (She didn’t build the platform, the platform has been live two years before I knew her)

We got talking and then Election pressure, I told her we will talk and meet after elections and she agreed. After elections I had to travel to cool off this head before it will blow off and today I was going over schedules and I saw her messages and missed calls and I replied her, though opening the messages I saw threats of her going to call me out on social media and I was like hold on.

I called my friend who had asked me to give her a try so he could use her after I have vetted her and sure she can deliver. I forwarded messages to him, from the said lady who has been making threats and I forwarded her account number to him to pay her, pending when I get back to Review the work she has done and boom I have been called out on Twitter. And my last message to her was my PA will call her tomorrow (which is today) and finalize other details and her reply was had already called me out on twitter.

If you ask the lady, the first we spoke on zoom, I told her the main job is coming and not this one cos this is already done.

I have been tech platforms since 2015 and I have never had an issue with anyone who has worked on any with me.

Honestly, I’m sure the amount (350K) in question is not worth the damage. But she wants to trend and she got it, I have my Tech team that I have been using since 2015 and I have never had cause to change them, they built all my platforms and we have never had financial issues.

But in the instant case, someone wanted to push business her way and I was the vetting officer, But we learn everyday. But hey, I have a name and someone will prey on it when they like and that’s not ok all levels.

People are so inclined to believe negative things about you, but they see positive things and throw their eyes away. I will Legally Address this in the coming weeks, and this will set a precedent. Thank you.
