Austin Dettmann motorcycle accident: Prayers are still up for beloved B-class motorcycle racer Austin Dettmann\u00a0who was badly injured on May 3, 2020 after a motorcycle accident while street riding with a passenger.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tragically, the passenger died<\/a> in the accident.<\/p>\n

Since been at the hospital, Austin has had a brain bleed which continued to bleed, had to have his part of his leg amputated and broke several vertebrae in his neck.<\/p>\n

Austin Dettmann motorcycle accident happened on National Avenue near 112th Street\u00a0in West Allis Sunday, on May 3, 2020.<\/p>\n

According to police, the operator of the motorcycle, a 24-year-old man, apparently lost control.<\/p>\n

The operator and passenger, a 27-year-old woman, were both thrown from the motorcycle. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the man was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.<\/p>\n

Police said speed appears to have been a factor, with an investigation ongoing into the official cause.<\/p>\n

Update 05\/04:<\/p>\n

Austin Dettmann family is thankful for everybody reaching out and for their prayers. As Tiffany said, \u201cFor those of you who don\u2019t know my brother is out of surgery for right now. He has a brain bleed which continues to bleed, had to have his part of his leg amputated and broke several vertebrae in his neck.<\/p>\n

Although he is out of surgery and alive he is not out of the woods by any means. The blood vessels in his neck are throwing clots due to severe injury.<\/p>\n

There are a lot of unknowns at this time and we are told we just have to wait. We are so grateful for the amount of love from all of you. Please keep the thoughts and prayers coming.\u201d<\/p>\n

Update 05\/05:<\/p>\n

\u201cSo today I got the phone call from the Doctors that I never wanted to believe. I still don\u2019t. I heard what they said but they don\u2019t know Austin.<\/p>\n

They haven\u2019t seen what\u2019s he\u2019s capable of when he sets him mind to something.<\/p>\n

The neuro Doctors believes that Austin can not recover. They believe he is paralyzed and in a vegetative state. We can not give up. I won\u2019t give up.<\/p>\n

I am so angry and beside myself that I can\u2019t physically touch my son. Hold his hand , kiss him. That\u2019s my job. I\u2019m his mother. I am to protect him , support him, hold him when he\u2019s hurting and they won\u2019t let me.<\/p>\n

The hospital is empty. We saw 4 people the entire time we were there that weren\u2019t a doctor or nurse. They seemed annoyed with us being there almost all night. They told us at midnight we had to leave the family center because they were closing. No one was there it was just Andrew and I.<\/p>\n

We had to go sit in the front lobby and wait. No one was in the emergency room , the front lobby or family center . My son needs me more at this moment than ever before. His little sister , brother and big sister need to touch him.<\/p>\n

I am struggling with this. I beg the nurses and the doctors every time I talk to them to let me see him even if it\u2019s 5 minutes. I just don\u2019t know what to do. I am failing my son, my child who desperately needs me . I believe he can hear me when we do the video chat. I believe it helps him. .<\/p>\n

I believe my touch would make a difference!!! I feel like the hospital, doctors have made their decision and are giving up. I\u2019m not going to let that happen. I\u2019m not giving. As long as Austin doesn\u2019t I will not. Please pray!!! \u2764\ufe0f\u2764\ufe0f\u2764\ufe0f\u201d<\/p>\n
