Mendham student dies: Beloved Mendham High School senior Matthew LaRosa died suddenly on December 31, 2019 New Year’s Eve.
The West Morris Mendham High School senior who was a leader and captain of the Minutemen lacrosse team was only 18 years old.
Matthew LaRosa death was announced by Morris Sussex Sports on social media in a post that read:
Mendham Strong.
We are saddened to report that Mendham High School unexpectedly lost senior Matthew LaRosa on New Years Eve. Matthew was also a member of the Morris-Sussex sports community as the leader and captain of the Minuteman lacrosse team.
We are calling on the community help support Matt’s family, classmates, teammates, teachers and school officials as they deal with their tragic loss. Please feel free to comment, share and send messages of support by letting them know they are in your thoughts and prayers.

Please say a prayer for Matthew LaRosa grieving family. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 5 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home in Mendham. A private funeral service will be held Monday, Jan. 6 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph Church.
Interment will follow the funeral service at Hilltop Cemetery.
