President Donald Trump is urging his followers to pray for him, as the House of Representatives prepares for a vote in which lawmakers are expected to make him the third president in history to be impeached.
The president fired off a series of tweets on Wednesday morning attacking his Democratic opponents and again dismissing the impeachment proceedings against him as a witch hunt and an assault on American democracy.
Trump appears resigned to the fact he will be impeached.
He wrote on Twitter:
“Can you believe that I will be impeached today by the Radical Left, Do Nothing Democrats, AND I DID NOTHING WRONG!” “A terrible Thing,” the president continued. “Read the Transcripts. This should never happen to another President again. Say a PRAYER!”
The House is expected to vote to impeach the president with a largely party-line vote. This will send Trump to trial in the Senate, where the Republican majority is expected to acquit him.
The president issues daily condemnation of the impeachment effort. On Tuesday, Trump said the Democrats wanted to impeach him but that “I’m not worried!”
He then asked,
“How can they do that and yet impeach a very successful (Economy Plus) President of the United States, who has done nothing wrong? These people are Crazy!”
