Residents in Ikorodu prevented operatives at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) from alleged illegal arrest of a “Yahoo boy.”
The SARS official allegedly attempted arresting a young man on the road who the accused of being a suspected internet fraudster, popularly known as “yahoo boy.”
Residents within the neighbourhood immediately came to the defence of the young man as the shouted at the SARS officials, calling the “Ole” (thief). The officials who were raiding the area in a commercial “danfo” bus drove off after they were challenged by residents.
In the video which has surfaced online, the young man can be seen scantily dressed and seated in front of the bus, protesting the officials give him all that was collected from him. Residents also gathered around the bus, shouting that his belonging be returned to him before they are allowed to leave the scene.
