An Executive Director at the Nigerian Export-Import Bank, NEXIM bank, Stella Okotete, has given a narration of how she was once suspended for rejecting bribe.
In her post, she mentioned that while serving as a Councillor in 2009, she was suspended by her colleagues for rejecting what they termed ‘political gift’.
According to her, the other politicians had demanded bribe from the secondary school Principals who had been extorting public school students.
10yrs After, I am still Standing Strong & Tall, on this Day 2009, I was Suspended by my Fellow Councillors for Refusing to take Bribe tagged “ Political Gift” from School Principals in my LGA, Who were involved in illegal extortion of Fees from Public School Students,
I was called back after Three Weeks, But I was Surprised People blamed me for speaking Out, Except Arch Terry Noah, I spent my Suspension touring Government Schools in my Ward and Ensuring those illegal fees were Returned, It was A political Baptism for me, Two years Later I was appointed SA to the Gov on MDGs.
Today I am An ED,NEXIM Bank, All to the praise and Glory of God Almighty, I have no regrets Giving back to the society and Doing what is right because A political Appointment or Representation is a call to service, Not an opportunity to steal what belongs to the People …… #AllegictoCorruption Thanks Facebook for Driving me through Memory Lane
