"I volunteered to donate my blood for COVID-19 research" - Gov Seyi Makinde

Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde has disclosed that he volunteered to donate his blood to be studied by experts conducting research on Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Gov Seyi Makinde took to his social media page to make this revelation, stating that a coronavirus (COVID-19) survivor advocating for local solutions to the pandemic in his state, he volunteered to donate his blood for research on “Evaluation of Post Infection Protection Against SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19) in Nigeria”.

He wrote;

We have been advocating for local solutions to the COVID-19 pandemic in Oyo State. So, as a COVID-19 survivor, I volunteered to donate my blood to be studied by our experts researching on the “Evaluation of Post Infection Protection Against SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19) in Nigeria.”

See some reactions to the post below.

Every Covid-19 survivor made the voluntary blood donation not for research purpose but for the extraction of the antibody needed to treat others. Truth above politics. Mr Governor, you lie and its disappointing. – @olumideajala

In Science & Medicine, every hypothesis is a guess that should be looked into/studied, for the purpose of scientific investigations, until it can be proven to not be a theory. We hope this thesis will lead to a breakthrough in discovering the treatment of SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19). – @FrancisAdeboye

We, Africans can’t be waiting for WHO OR Chinese virus doctors before we can solve our problems. Nigeria has natural herbs Herb nothing bad in trying… Kudos. – @onyiforlife

That’s very selfless of you as usual sir. It will surprise the world that Africa actually has solution to the virus, we are not just giving enough attention to our own effective ways and traditional means of solving the problem. – @Joejohnson247
