Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state has dismissed claims he has moved to a new political party, stating his focus is on other things.
Obaseki yesterday announced his resignation from the APC after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
It can be recalled that the governor was disqualified by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) from recontesting in the governorship election.
Mr Obaseki had also revealed he would take a decision on his membership of the APC after meeting with the Nigerian leader.
The governor has blamed his ordeal on the APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, with whom he has been involved in a bitter fight.
However in a tweet posted today, June 17 the governor said he is yet to move to a new platform.
”I have not moved to a new platform yet to seek re-election. My focus now is to control the spread of the coronavirus (#COVID19) pandemic, which is ravaging our country and threatening our healthcare system. Stay safe.” he tweeted
