‘I don’t have any anointed candidate’ – Bola Tinubu tells APC members

APC Chieftain, Bola Tinubu, who addressed members of the party at a convention recently, stated that he does not have any anointed candidate, and that anybody can become the governor of Lagos state in 2019.

Bola Tinubu who recounted his journey into politics during the party meeting, added that anyone who comes to him kneeling down to be anointed, is wasting his time. He said;

”Anyone who comes to me, kneeling down to be anointed is wasting his time. When I went to the Senate, it was the party members that voted for me in the Primaries, in 1999 when I wanted to be Governor, it was party members that voted for me to get the ticket. Anyone who mentions my name is fooling you, I don’t have any anointed candidate, vote for whoever you want” he said

This is coming after the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, declared that the Lagos Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, was not in any way embattled over the contention for the governorship ticket of the party in the state.

Following a reported relationship breakdown between Ambode and a National Leader of APC, Bola Tinubu, the latter was said to have anointed one Babajide Sanwoolu as the next governor of Lagos State.

Just recently, the Vice Chairman of the APC in Lagos East Senatorial District, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, stated that Tinubu instructed the 57 Local Council Chairmen in the state to work towards the emergence of Sanwonolu as the next governor of the state.

However, Oshiomhole dismissed the claims of rift between Ambode and the Lagos APC leader. Speaking during a meeting with the party’s governors, APC Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole insisted that the Lagos State chapter of the party was in sound health, irrespective of the discontents against the governor, Vanguard reports.
