A small torch allegedly left behind by a suspected robber in Katsina State, Nura Labaran, has led to his arrest and arraignment.

The 22-year-old resident of Gago village in Dutsinma Local Government Area of the state, who is currently on bail, was also found in possession of a sheep suspected to have been stolen, Punch Metro reports.

Labaran is facing criminal charges in line with provisions of Section 1(2) (a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms Special Provision Act, Cap 11, LFN, 2004 and Section 319 of the Penal Code.

According to the police, one Lawal Abdul, who resides behind the Isa Kaita College of Education, Dutsinma, Katsina State, lodged a complaint that an unknown man recently attacked him in his house with a machete and stick.

Abdul reportedly said his attacker, who held a torch during the incident, allegedly inflicted injuries on his head and hands, after which his attacker made away with his two phones valued at N12,000 but left behind the torch as he rushed out.

It was learnt that the police were able to trace the suspect after retrieving the torch left behind by the attacker at the scene of the crime.

Labaran was said to have owned up when confronted with the torch by the police.

A sheep was also allegedly found with Labaran, who was unable to give a convincing explanation on how he came about the animal.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, told a Katsina Senior Magistrate Court where Labaran was arraigned for cognizance on Tuesday and that investigation into the case was ongoing.

The presiding magistrate, Hajiya Dikko, adjourned the case till February 11, 2019, for mention.

BUT WHERE IS THE ALTERNATIVE MEANS OF LIVELIHOOD.THERE IS NONE.THERE ARE NO JOBS IN THIS COUNTRY.WE HAVE BEEN TRAINED TO LOOK FOR JOB NOT CREATE ONE. THAT IS OUR ACHILLES HEELS IN THIS COUNTRY.

THE GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA IS NOT BUILDING FACTORIES FOR JOB CREATION, NEITHER ARE THE ECUMENICAL SET UPS IN NIGERIA MAKING ANY VISIBLE EFFORT IN THIS DIRECTION.IF ANYTHING MOST OF THE ECCLESIASTICAL SET UP TAKE FROM THE SOCIETY, FLEECE THE MASSES.

WE ARE CLEARLY ON OUR OWN IN THIS COUNTRY EXCEPT THE POLITICIANS. YOU EITHER COME UP WITH A CONCEPT TO EARN A LIVING LEGALLY OR JOIN THE BANDWAGON OF THE LATEST FAD IN TOWN.BETTING HAS COME TO STAY.

24 HOURS OF CHAIN PRAYING WILL NOT DRIVE THE DRAGON AWAY.WISHES CANNOT.BUT CONCERTED EFFORT IN BUILDING AND CREATING ALTERNATIVES FOR EARNING A LIVING WILL.THIS IS THE WAY TO GO.

THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT ABOUT TO CLOSE THE BETTING HOUSES DOWN. AND WITHOUT AN ALTERNATIVE IN PLACE,THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD SIMPLY STAY ON THE SIDE LINE. AND WATCH AND TAKE THEIR TAXES.

IN NIGERIA, PEOPLE OVER SIXTY YEARS OLD ARE STILL WORKING FOR EITHER THE GOVERNMENT OR FOR OTHER INDIVIDUALS.THESE OLD MEN AND WOMEN WITH GREAT YEARS OF EXPERIENCE BEHIND THEM ARE OCCUPYING THE POSITIONS OF THE YOUTHS. ANY MAN AT 6O SHOULD HAVE RETIRED, SET UP A COMPANY BASED ON YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AND EARN A LIVING THEREFROM. AND ADDITIONALLY, PROVIDE 10 TO 20 NIGERIANS WITH EMPLOYMENT.BUT UNFORTUNATELY THAT IS NOT THE CASE.AND IT HARDLY WILL BE THE CASE IN FORESEEABLE FUTURE.

AND SO FOR NOW, BETTING HOUSES HAVE ARRIVED OUR SHORES TO PROVIDE RELIEVES THAT NEITHER THE GOVERNMENT NOR THE ECUMENICAL COULD.
