The International Federation Of Women Lawyers, FIDA has arrested a 31-year-old housewife identified as Christiana Eze, for pouring hot water on her 13-year-old house maid, Beauty, all because she slept on her couch in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
It was gathered that Beauty who usually sleeps on the floor, took to the couch because of cold on the day of the incident. However after the housewife stormed the sitting room and saw Beauty on her couch, she resorted to pouring hot water on the little child from Edo State.
Here arrest over the incident which occurred on 3rd of July, 2018, came after she pushed out the girl to go to School with the injuries she sustained. The girl’s teacher who noticed the injuries, filed a report against the suspect.
The little maid who accused Christiana of also using belt to flog her on the same spot she poured the hot water on, till her skin pilled peeled off, was backed up by neighbors who disclosed that Beauty who had been with the lady for the past two years has known nothing but torment and torture.
A security man also revealed that he gives Beauty food sometimes, because she eats once a day. Investigation further revealed that the girl doesn’t have a room in the house and her luggage is kept under the staircase, from where she dresses up.
Recall that a 36-year-old housewife, Mrs. Nkiruka Ngwu, was also arrested for allegedly abusing her housemaid at Allen Avenue in Lagos. Ngwu was said to have brought the 10-year-old girl, Chioma Samuel, from Abia State to Lagos in January to stay with her, after the girl’s father’s death.
The incident occurred at No. 47, Ogundana Street off Allen Avenue, Ikeja. It was learnt that instead of Ngwu to keep to her promise of making life comfortable for Chioma, she made it a living hell. Ngwu was said to have abused the girl mentally and physically and inflicted injuries on her body. The woman, on Wednesday, allegedly used hot iron to cause grievous injuries on the girl’s hands and legs. Ngwu was also alleged to have poured hot water on Chioma’s body, which scalded her skin.
The following morning, Chioma accompanied Ngwu to drop her children at school. It was there some mothers noticed her injuries and started asking questions.
