The 4 Benue farmers reportedly killed by herdsmen in the fresh attack, have been identified as Terlumun Uke, Samuel Dwem, Draba Dwem and Apaaga Mlanga. It was gathered that the community which is located at the banks of River Benue, has been repeatedly attacked by herdsmen with residents just recovering from a recent invasion before the latest onslaught.
Tyovenda Gbumsy, spokesman of the community who spoke to newsmen after fleeing to another community, disclosed that herdsmen moved into the area with a hundreds of cattle which destroyed crops.
“The invasion was reported to soldiers drafted to the state and they chased the herdsmen away.
“Soon afterwards, the herdsmen regrouped and launched an attack on our community.”
However the Benue state Police Spokesman, DSP Moses Yamu, said he was yet to be informed about the development officially.
