Gunmen kill Senator Abbo’s uncle, kidnap nursing stepmother

Senator Elisha Ishaku Abbo’s uncle have been allegedly killed by gunmen who also kidnapped his nursing stepmother.

On Saturday July 13, Adamawa North Senator, Elisha Ishaku Abbo’s uncle was killed by some unknown gunmen who also kidnapped his step-mother, Rifikatu Ishaku, in Adamawa.

According to an eyewitness, the gunmen stormed Abbo’s family house located in Muchalla ward of Mubi north local government area of the state on Saturday and while kidnapping Rifikatu, they killed the senator’s uncle who allegedly raised an alarm, The Nation reports.

The witness added that the gunmen, on arriving the area, went straight to Abbo’s family house and abducted his stepmother, and that as they made away with the victim, Abbo’s uncle came out of his room and raised an alarm on sighting the gunmen.

“The gunmen opened fire on him (the uncle), leading to his death, and they went away with the victim unchallenged.”

The attack was said to have taken place around 1am on Saturday and the attackers kidnapped his nursing stepmother, Madam Rifkatu Ishaku, who was delivered of a baby just over a week ago.

Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sulaiman Yshaya Nguroje, confirmed the incident, saying the police had deployed officers and men to track down the killer abductors.

He said, “Our men from the IG rapid response team, in conjunction with men from anti-kidnapping unit, as well as men from homicide unit have been deployed in order to rescue and arrest the suspects.”
