A groom has been killed during his wedding ceremony and a man described as his “close friend” has been arrested in connection with the shocking death.

The shocking death took place in the city of Rampur in India and a footage captured the moment the man is shot.

The horrendous moment the groom slumps forward during the celebratory gun firing, clutching his chest in agony, was captured on camera.

In the video, he is seen grimacing in pain and clutching his chest after a number of popping sounds, before slumping forward and later dying.

According to local police, the suspect – identified only as Ramchandra – fired two shots at the groom from his licensed gun.

When the first shot missed Sunil Verma, the accused fired again and hit him in the chest.

Ramchandra has been charged with murdering Sunil Verma and is reportedly on remand awaiting trial.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Ghanshyam Chaurasi told local media:

“Prima facie it appears that the groom was killed during the celebratory firing, but police are probing other angles too.”

Recently at another wedding in India, a little girl tragically lost her life and the incident made international headlines, sparking outrage.

The seven-year-old girl was raped and murdered in the village of Etah, Utah Pradesh, according to police, by a 23-year-old man who was found lying drunk next to the victim’s body.

The suspect, who was reportedly hired to set up a tent for the wedding, was immediately arrested.

He is accused of raping the girl before choking her to death.
