The governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has paid a condolence visit to victims of the Balogun market fire.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu spoke directly to the victims of the Balogun market fire outbreaks, shared the government’s care package to the victims while reassuring that the market will be moved to a more permanent and safer site.
The fire outbreak according to him was caused by factors which could be avoided.
This fire incident was caused by factors that could have been avoided and even though emergency services were on ground promptly. The building could not be rescued due to congestion and other issues.

This comes after reports that a Police man was killed after the front section of the building which had caught fire yesterday collapsed on him. It was reported that the Police officer died in line of duty as he was controlling the surging crowd at the scene of the incident when the front of the 6-storey building collapsed.
Conrming the death, Mr Olanrewaju Elegushi, Special Adviser to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu
on Lagos Central Business District, told NAN that the policeman died in hospital following
injuries sustained in the building collapse
