Nigerian poet and activist, Gimba Kakanda has accused governor Wike of demolishing a central mosque in Port Harcourt.
Gimba Kakanda took to his social media page to call out Governor Wike for allegedly demolishing a central mosque in Port Harcourt, he also shared a video of muslims worshiping at the alleged site.
He asked;
Why did Governor Wike demolish this mosque in Trans Amadi, Port Harcourt? I’m asking this question because, in spite of our history of intolerance, places of worship hardly featured in our politics of hate. We are descending into a new low, and it’s sad.
I do not have a problem with Governor Wike declaring Rivers a Christian state. Northern governors have done the same in imposing sharia without a referendum of any sort. What we owe one another, in spite of our differences, is accommodating smaller religious groups in our states.
It’s really sad, whatever is going on. A political leader should know better than being an agent of division and distrust of any form.

Responding to a follower’s reaction to the post who said what if Wike had declared the state a christian state like some northern states declared Sharia, he wrote;
Exactly my position. Calling Rivers a Christian state is indeed not out of line. But he just needs to guarantee the existence and security of non-Muslims there, and that demolition of the mosque is a case we must all be worried about.
