In a quoted tweet the host of Beat FM’s Drive Time Show with Gbemi called out a Twitter user who had Tweeted about a woman who goes to a man’s house outside their town and how that is suppose to imply that the woman hasn’t come to “charge phone”.
Here is what he says:
“My sister you left your house in Lagos to go all the way to Ibadan to see a guy for the weekend…”
“And then he wants to touch and you are telling him you did not come for this…”
“What did you come for then? To charge your phone?”
The owner of Gbemisoke shoes who is most times, particular about ending rape culture and women shaming in Nigeria and, has used different platforms to express this including social media and her show on radio, took to Twitter to quote the tweet and call out the man who had tweeted it as a rape culture enabler.
Here is what she says:
“Rape culture enabler”
Gbemi has always been active on social media to challenge ideas that she finds misogynistic on social media and this has led to her being tagged as controversial by mainstream press.
Not too long ago during the Arise Fashion Week 2018 “the Clap back Queen” joined the Aboutthatcurvylife Collective that promotes body positivity and diversity as a model on the runway.
Her shoe line, Gbemisoke Shoes is one of the only Nigerian brands that make women shoes up to size 45.
