Funeral of Demisha Naik, South African lady stabbed to death (photos)

Here are photos from funeral of Demisha Naik, a 23-year-old South African woman who was stabbed to death in her flat at Shallcross south of Durban last Tuesday evening.

Demisha Naik was stabbed in her face, she also sustained stab wounds to her body and her lifeless body was discovered by her father.

A day after her murder, the man suspected of killing Demisha was found dead in his own home.

Police spokesperson Lt-Col Thulani Zwane said at around noon on Wednesday, members of Chatsworth police responded to a shooting at Montford area in Chatsworth.

““On their arrival they found a 24-year-old man inside the house with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was declared dead and a pistol was found on the scene.

An inquest case was opened at Chatsworth police station for further investigation. He was identified as the same suspect who was wanted for a murder at Shallcross on [Tuesday] afternoon,” he said.

Police have not released his name.

Motive for Demisha Naik’s killing is unknown at this stage and the matter is under investigation.

Demisha Naik’s funeral today:

The 23-year-old beautician’s grieving family and friends gathered at her Shallcross home on Thursday morning to pay their final respects.

At the funeral service, a picture frame of Naik was placed on the white casket along with bouquets of flowers. Her distraught mother Shantha Naik clung to the casket as she wept for her daughter.
