About representatives up to 4, on Monday, confined before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court over supposed theft of 86 packs of lace materials worth N8.3 million from their manager.
The defendants namely: Tahiru Munlai, 25; Umar Haruna, 25; Abubakar Dauda, 47 and Hussaini Iliyasu, 23, were accused in court of two checks of trick and theft of which they argued not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Michael Unah explained in details to the court that the defendants trucked away 86 boxes of different kinds of lace materials esteemed at N8.320 million, the property of the complainant, one Mr Ali Abdulmumini on May 13, about 11.30pm at No.37 John St., Idumota, Lagos Island.
“The complainant speculated his business agents to have schemed with non – staff to take the lace from the stockroom since they are able to approach it,” the prosecutor said.
The prosecutor also explained the supposed offenses repudiated Sections 287(7) and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015, (Revised).
The Chief Magistrate, Mr A.A. Fashola allowed the defendants N300,000 bail each with two sureties each in like total, including that the sureties must be productively employed and should show proof of three year’s payment of tax to the Lagos State Government.
The case was suspended until July 22, for mention.
