Former WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard has gone missing while he was out swimming with his 10-year old son on Venice Beach on Sunday.
According to reports, a desperate search is ongoing to find Gaspard, who was caught in a strong rip current.
Reports also have it that Gaspard’s son, and a bunch of other swimmers were caught as well, with several lifeguards sprinting into the water to pull them out.
While Gaspard’s son was among the ones who were rescue, the WWE alumni is yet to be found.
Kenichi Haskett, Los Angeles County Fire Department Lifeguard Division, told the Daily Mail that Gaspard was pulled away by the strong wave while their team was trying to rescue him and his son
“We had one of our lifeguards go out to make a double rescue of a father and a son. The father unfortunately got pushed down by a wave as they were getting pulled out of the current. The lifeguard rescued and grabbed the boy, the son, and tried to grab the father as well.
He ended up getting pushed down by a wave and we couldn’t find him and we immediately started with our rescue boats, called in additional lifeguards to search that location of his dad.”
One of the witnesses revealed that when lifeguards approached the swimmers, Gaspard instructed them to save the life of his son first, which they eventually did. While the rescue was going on, another large wave crashed down on him, after which he disappeared.
