Former Inspector General of Police IGP (Rtd) Alh. Ibrahim Ahmadu Commassie, has passed on at the age of 76.
Ag. DCP Jimoh Moshood, the Nigerian police Public Relations Officer, who released a statement on behalf of the force on the death of the late Inspector General, disclosed that he died at the National Orthopedic Hospital, Katsina after a brief illness.
Moshood said the deceased enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as Cadet Inspector on May 11, 1964, and was trained at the Police College Ikeja.

SUDDEN DEMISE OF IGP (RTD) ALH. IBRAHIM AHMADU COMMASSIE, GCON, NPM, mni
1. The Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris, NPM, mni, on behalf of the Police Management Team and the entire Officers and Men of the Force with a heavy heart regret to announce the demise of IGP (RTD) Alh. Ibrahim Ahmadu Commassie, GCON, NPM, mni, Sardaunan Katsina, Garkuwan Hausa who died at the age of Seventy Six (76), this evening at the National Orthopedic Hospital, Katsina after a brief illness.
2. The late IGP was born on 18th March, 1942 in Katsina, katsina State. He enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as Cadet Inspector on the 11th May, 1964 and was trained at the Police College Ikeja. He was appointed the 9th Indigenous Inspector General of Police on 26 August, 1993 to 1999.
3. He will be buried according to Islamic rites after Friday prayers, tomorrow, 20th July, 2018 at his residence, No. 1 Ibrahim, Commassie, GRA, Katsina State.
4. The IGP commiserate with his family, the good people and Government of Katsina State and our dear Nation, Nigeria on this great loss.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the other hand, reports that Coomassie was the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Arewa Consultative Forum before his death.
