Nigeria’s former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has also reacted to report of the EFCC writing the Nigeria Customs Service to place outgoing Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose on watchlist and also prevent him from leaving the country.
Femi Fani-Kayode who described the act as being petty, also stated that Fayose has full immunity and can travel to any country he wishes to go to till his tenure elapses.
I have never seen such pettiness in my entire life. As a sitting Governor, Ayo Fayose has full immunity and can travel to any country that he pleases until his tenure lapses. The Buhari administration is utterly shameless. No man is God and their time will soon be over.
Governor Ayodele Fayose had also reacted to the report. According to Governor Fayose, nobody is God and putting his name on a watchlist is all shades of petty and also political. He concluded his tweet by stating that he will remain in PDP, even with the intimidation.
@officialEFCC putting my name on watch list after notification of my coming is not only political but petty. I’m not among those who are afraid to face tomorrow. Nobody is God. They should expect me on October 16, 2018. I will remain in PDP not minding their intimidation.
Fayose is being investigated by the EFCC for alleged abuse of office, money laundering, among others. It should also be noted that the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, had promised to make himself available to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Governor Fayose disclosed this in a letter dated September 10 and addressed to the acting EFCC Chairman, Mr Ibrahim Magu.
In the letter dated September 12 and addressed to the comptroller-general of customs, the EFCC said Fayose whose tenure ends on October 16 may be planning to flee the country.
