According to reports, the anti-graft agency said it only separated the charges to enable other defendants who are present in the country to take their plea since the former minister has not been showing up in court since the case was filed in 2018.

The amended charges which bordered on money laundering now only seeks to prosecute a former Executive Director of First Bank Plc alongside Diezani and Ben, who served as Group Executive Director of finance at the NNPC.

Spokesperson of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Wilson Uwajuren who however reacted to the report told Guardian “It is fake news, just disregard it.”
