The Special Adviser on Media to Kano state governor, Salihu Tanko-Yakasai, popularly known as Dawisu on social media, has been reportedly arrested by the Department of State Services’ operatives.
The arrest happened few hours after he called on the President Buhari’s administration to resign if they can’t handle the security crisis in the country.
Taking to his official Twitter page, the aide reacted to the abduction of 317 students of Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Friday, February 28.
“Clearly, we as APC government, at all levels, have failed Nigerians in the number 1 duty we were elected to do which is to secure lives & properties. Not a single day goes by without some insecurity in this land. This is a shame! Deal with terrorists decisively or resign.
Meanwhile, his alleged arrest has led to a hashtag #FreeDawisu to trend on Twitter, as Nigerians demand the immediate release of the Kano state Governor’s aide.
See some if the reactions below.
Dawisu was at the DSS office for over 14hours now just for this tweet, his crime was just for tweeting this harmless tweet about the insecurities we are facing and a failed system pls kindly #FreeDawisupic.twitter.com/Vfo61ApicM

Normally, the state director of the DSS would order the arrest. As at 1am today, the Kano state director of DSS had said they didn’t pick him. This means that Abuja operated independently without informing their colleagues in Kano. An anomaly! Why such a desperation? #FreeDawisupic.twitter.com/HOO64pbya2

#FreeDawisu Lawless DSS has arrested @dawisu for freely expressing his views regarding the failure of the @MBuhari’s govt. The DSS lazy leadership can’t help Nigerians facing insecurity but only ready and happy to pounce on Nigerians critical of the failing regime #BuhariMustGo

The resources that ought to be disbursed for tackling burning national issues like banditry has unfortunately been wasted in abducting @dawisu in Kano and transporting him to Abuja. For what, I ask? What’s this madness for God’s sake? To intimidate government critics? #FreeDawisu

Dawisu has committed no crime.
Dawisu has done nothing wrong.
To wake up this morning and hear of his arrest by a govt and party that he works for is absolutely disgusting.
His arrest is a shame to the APC and to the Kano State Govt he works for.
