The Nasarawa State Police Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) Command has paraded 32-year-old Obey Samuel, who reportedly assaulted his mother until she fell into a coma after he returned from a night club drunk.
Samuel was arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) for beating his biological mother “without any provocation”, the Commandant of NSCDC in Nasarawa, Muhammed Gidado Fari, said, an allegation the suspect has long denied.
He said: “I did not beat her but I know that when I came back from a night club at that time I was drunk I just locked her up in her room.”
Recall that we reported that a 62-year-old old prophetess identified as Mrs Mary Ezeugo was allegedly beaten to death by her son, Ekene Ezeogo after a serious argument that took place at their place of residence, at No 24 Agbaja Road in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital.
The unfortunate incident happened when the suspect supposedly had a fight with his sister, and his mother tried to intervene. The suspect’s step brother, Onyema Ezeogo, disclosed that Ekene’s mother died after her son pushed her to the ground and she hit her stomach on the ground.
He said, ‘’Ekene beat his mother and brush her down, the mother hit her tommy on the ground, Ekene carried her to St Agatha hospital for treatment, unfortunately she could not make it , the Doctor certified her dead.”
Lawrence Ezeogo of St. Agatha hospital Abakaliki, a medical doctor and son of the deceased said that the woman was brought to the hospital unconscious as a result of his son (Ekene) attack, disclosing that she was later diagnosed of Uterian prolapse.
He said, “We referred her to another hospital because of the Uterian Prolapse that was diagnosed of her, as far as I am concerned the suspect has committed some crime, if we don’t allow Police to come into this matter and investigate it properly, it means that some other person will do the same in that family, it is a very large family of 37 children with 5 wives.”
