A drunk soldier in the Nigerian Army has reportedly shot his colleague at the Mogadishu Cantonment in Abuja.
According to reports, the killer soldier was allegedly drunk before he shot his fellow officer over an argument on his alcohol habit.
The soldier was reportedly granted a break, only for him to return heavily drunk. The guard commander, in mufti, was said to have confronted him and asked him to change up for duty.
The suspect then went in, changed into his uniform, picked up his rifle, came out and shot the guard commander. On seeing what he had done, the suspect allegedly shot himself, but missed his own head and the bullet shattered his mouth.
This incident is coming just days after a soldier reportedly shot dead 2 of his colleagues in Borno State.
“Accidental discharge kills 2 soldiers. We deeply regret to announce the death of two soldiers of 192 Battalion who lost their lives as a result of an accidental discharge during in-theatre training today,” the Army said.
