Dr Melvin Naidu death: 51 year old Dr Melvin Naidu died October 17, 2019 after he was stabbed in the corridor of a plush Umhlanga hotel.
When the top orthopaedic surgeon died on Thursday, he was in the company of a 31-year-old woman at the upmarket The Capital Pearls who has been arrested for allegedly stabbing him to death.

Dr Melvin Naidu death happened after he was stabbed in the corridors of the upmarket The Capital Pearls in Umhlanga, north of Durban.
According to KwaZulu-Natal police, there had been an altercation occurred between the pair about 10pm on Thursday.
On Thursday night about 10pm, guests alerted hotel security after overhearing an altercation.
The man, who was in his boxer shorts and sandals, collapsed outside the blood splattered hotel room door.
Guests who overheard the fight alerted a security guard.
Police spokesperson Capt Nqobile Gwala said:
“The suspect was heard screaming for help, followed by the [man] who was also shouting for help. A 51-year-old man fell on to the floor outside the room with a stab wound on the neck.
The knife was recovered and the suspect was arrested for murder. She will appear in court soon,”
Dr Melvin Naidu was certified dead at the scene. He had been the subject of a failed hit last year.
The woman was arrested and has been charged with murder.
According to his company website Occuworx Health and Safety, Dr Naidu did his post-graduate training in orthopaedics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s medical school, before obtaining further qualifications from the College of Surgeons SA.
