Dr Gemlick Fort Wayne death, obituary: Orthopaedics NorthEast (“ONE”) physician Dr Brett Gemlick Brett F. Gemlick, MD, a Fort Wayne native, who joined Ortho NorthEast as a member of the SportONE team in 2000 has passed away.
The well loved physician specialised in sports medicine and complex rotator cuff and shoulder reconstruction.
A tribute in his honour from Sarah DiFrancesco shared on Facebook reads:
My heart hurts for Parkview Ortho today & in the days coming. This has been a challenging year for our team.
Dr Brett Gemlick was such a wonderful, caring & kind man. It’s hard to turn the next page when you know someone won’t be in the next chapter.
Grief is just love, it’s all the love you want to give but cannot. Grief is love with no place to go, except in tears down our cheeks.
It’s ok to to be hurt, it’s ok to say today is hard and it’s ok if the only thing you do today is just breathe.

Brett F. Gemlick, MD, a Fort Wayne native, joined Ortho NorthEast (“ONE”) as a member of the SportONE team in 2000. He specializes in sports medicine and complex rotator cuff and shoulder reconstruction.
Dr. Gemlick first became interested in orthopedic medicine as a freshman at Snider High School, when he went to work with his neighbor, an orthopaedic surgeon for Ortho NorthEast.
He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa Scholastic Honorary Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Indiana State Medical Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Fort Wayne Orthopaedic Society and American College of Sports Medicine.
Dr. Gemlick also won the Academic Excellence Award for Ideal Characteristics of a Physician. In addition he is specially certified in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine.
Dr. Gemlick and his wife enjoy running together and spending time with their three children.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Dr. Gemlick’s death. He was an excellent surgeon, and a caring and kind person. Rest in peace, Dr. Gemlick.
