A dismissed soldier identified by his nickname his nickname “One bullet”, has been arrested by officers attached to the Lagos State Police command for reportedly terrorizing Ebute Metta area of Lagos.
The arrest of the dismissed soldier came after he raided some suspected yahoo boys with the help of some SARS officers. The suspects reportedly extorted their victims of N220,000 and an iPhone X.
After Huskey, a friend of the victims, reported the matter at the Bonny Camp soldier barracks and some officers where deployed to take up the issue, One bullet was subsequently arrested and now cooling his feet in detention.
This is coming after a suspected fake army captain, was also arrested in Ikeja area of Lagos state after he allegedly harassed some policemen and paramilitary officers at the task force office. The Punch reported that the incident occurred when the suspect, George Edem, came to the office of the Lagos state task force on environmental and special offences (enforcement) unit in Alausa. He wanted to see Saheed Egbeyemi, the task force chairman, to facilitate the release of a motorcycle seized at Oshodi a day before.
Edem produced a fake identity card and claimed that he resided at Intelligent Quarters, Nigerian army cantonment in Ojo. However, the police found out that the man was just an engineer, not an army officer, and apprehended him. During the interrogation, Edem confessed that he had been impersonating an army captain for eight years, adding that poverty forced him into the act.
“I collect money from people who have cases with the police and customs officials. I have been doing it for eight years. I have also been to some Divisonal Police Officers in Lagos. I came for the release of an impounded tricycle in the task force office,” he said.
Speaking about the incident, a police source at the task force said:
“The fake army captain harassed both policemen and paramilitary officers at the task force office. He demanded to see the chairman as a matter of urgency.
“Nobody suspected him. He was eventually ushered in to see the chairman. It was while he was being questioned that he was found to be an engineer and not a military officer.”
