In the statement shared with Variety, the singer’s representative denied claims that the substance she overdosed on was heroin.
“Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now,”the rep revealed.
“Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers, and support,” the rep added.
As news of the one-time child star’s hospitalisation spread, messages poured in on social media for the young woman whose albums include Don’t Forget, Here We Go Again and Unbroken
Demi has been known to openly talk about her addiction problems.
Online entertainment platform, TMZ, had broken the news, citing a source in the law enforcement community.
The sources indicated that Demi Lovato was taken from her place of residence in Hollywood Hills to the hospital a few minutes before Tuesday noon local time.
