Bayern Munich defender David Alaba, has sighed a five-year contract with Real Madrid, bringing months of speculation about his future to an end.
The 28-year-old, who can play in multiple positions including centre-back, left-back and defensive midfield, will join on a free transfer after negotiations with Bayern over a contract extension failed to progress.
Having been courted by a number of top European clubs – Manchester City, Barcelona and Chelsea included – Sky Germany report that the Austrian has agreed to join Real Madrid on a contract running until 2026.
Alaba has been long been expected to join Los Blancos, with the 28-year-old previously expressing a desire to leave Bayern at the end of the season in order to seek a new challenge, while he’s also expressed an admiration for Real Madrid in the past.
