Rapper DaBaby was arrested Monday night moments after getting off stage at Bojangles Coliseum in North Carolina, he was busted for weed possession.

Hours prior to his arrest, DaBaby, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk, partnered with several local groups to make sure hundreds of kids received Christmas presents, by passing out toys to poor families in the area.

The rapper, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk, was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana. He was later released and speaking after his release he told WSOC-TV that Charlotte-Mecklenburg police also charged him with resisting arrest.

Reporting the news on Twitter, Anthony Kustura wrote;

“Developing: CMPD arrested Charlotte native & rapper DaBaby after his concert in Charlotte last night for possession of marijuana. He’s also holding a citation for resisting arrest, which he says he didn’t do. His harsh claims against the department on
@wsoctv this morning.”

He said outside the jail tha he never resisted arrest and that his production team caught the entire exchange on camera. He said;

“So what we got is high-quality audio and video of me doing everything but resisting arrest before they just brought me down here, and we will be airing it out.

DaBaby said afterward he was wrongfully targeted after cops received a “bogus” tip he had drugs and guns in the vehicle. The rapper said, “Every time. There’s nobody when I pull up in the parking lot, the second I get out the car, 15 cops come around — can I borrow your microphone? ****** grabs mic … shining it into the car windows … they follow me, they pull us over for no reason.”
