The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has seized $8 million cash at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport Ikeja, Lagos State.
This was made known by the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Hameed Ali, who while addressing the press on Tuesday disclosed that the service intercepted $8,065,615 at the airport.
Hameed Ali disclosed that the cash was intercepted in a car before getting loaded into an aircraft. He added that the money was wrapped in large brown envelopes.
According to him, the vehicle which carried the cash belongs to the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company, NAHCO, adding that the driver and a suspect have been arrested. He said;
“From the day we seized this money, no bank has come to claim ownership. But our investigation will reveal the mystery behind the owners.”
