Instagram celebrity, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has been detained by the police, LailasNews can confirm.
Cubana Chief Priest was reportedly detained by the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit in Lagos State.
According to multiple reports, the Executive Director of Cubana Group was invited to the Force Headquarters Annex Lagos today for questioning on his alleged ”abuse of police escorts and his unexplainable wealth”.
He arrived at the police annex at about 10am this morning and has been with the police, answering questions from the officers.
A police source who confirmed this development stated that his detention followed an order from the Office of the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, who has expressed shock at how some Nigerians abuse police personnel attached to them. The source said;
“We have detained Cubana Chief Priest and he is facing interrogation for misuse of police personnel as well as the illegal use of a weapon and his extravagant and unexplained lifestyle.”
It can be recalled that the IGP had also recently ordered the immediate probe of Emeka Okonkwo, a business mogul better known as E-Money, and withdrawal of his police escorts, over alleged abuse of his police escorts and flashy lifestyle.
The State Command in a statement said:
“We received a signal from the Force headquarters on Monday that the police detail of music executive, E-Money, be immediately withdrawn and an investigation into the man be launched,” the media outlet quoted a police source as saying.
“The IG was surprised that policemen were attached to him in the first place and were being used like domestic servants, carrying umbrellas, opening doors, and doing menial jobs for him.
“The policemen were discovered to be attached to B Operations at the command headquarters and not MOPOL which is the usual practice. So, we have withdrawn his policemen and we are inviting him for questioning. The policemen will also be interrogated.”
