A 98-year-old woman was yesterday discharged in Lagos state after recovering from Coronavirus, she was the oldest patient of the virus in the state.
This was made known by a doctor who took to social media to share the good news of the elderly woman’s recovery.
The doctor who shared the story on Twitter, @drbellanifemi, said the elderly patient was discharged from Eti-Osa Isolation Center. She wrote;
“The Joy at our Eti-Osa Isolation Center today is indescribable. We just discharged our oldest patient, a 98 year old woman. So glad she’s going home hale and hearty. Can’t post pictures and videos because we were not given consent.
I actually hav some videos n pictures of ppl that gave me consent to post them. I jst want to edit dem, blurr their faces because of d mentality of some Nigerians. I don’t want any stigmatization for them in future. I can’t edit n I don’t know who I can trust wit it #CovidIsReal”
184 new cases of COVID-19 were also recorded in Nigeria last night.
According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC, out of the 184 new cases, 51 were recorded in Lagos, 23 in Jigawa, 16 in Bauchi, 16 in Katsina, 14 in Kano, 10 in FCT, 10 in Rivers, 9 in Kwara, 5 in Delta, 5 in Kaduna, 4 in Sokoto, 4 Oyo, 3 in Kebbi, 3 in Nasarawa, 3 in Osun, 2 in Ondo, 1 in Ebonyi, 1 in Edo, 1 in Enugu, 1 in Anambra, 1 in Plateau and 1 in Niger state.
The agency says there are now 4971 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 1070 patients have been discharged while 164 deaths have so far been recorded.
