Ibukun Arowolo, a corps member serving with the Lagos State Government reportedly died after he slumped at the government secretariat on Thursday. The late corps member who slumped and died five days to the completion of his youth service with the government, was attached to the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget before his death.
Late Arowolo who was supposed to have also gone for his marriage introduction few days before his death, had just finished eating a meal before the incident occurred; as he was said to have slumped after standing up.
An unconfirmed source who claimed that the late corps member suffered a heart attack which made him to slump, also added that the deceased schooled abroad and only came to Nigeria to engage in the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC scheme when he met his unfortunate fate. Those close to him said he was a lively corps member, as he was loved at the ministry where he was simply called ‘IBK.’
After he slumped, he was rushed to the Lagos State Government staff clinic from where he was referred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, and was confirmed dead.
Few weeks ago, it was also reported that a corps member, Miss Hilda Amadi, who was participating in the orientation exercise for new members of the National Youth Service in Kwara State, reportedly slumped and died. Amadi was a graduate of Oil and Gas Engineering from the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State where she hailed from.
The corps member, who was said to belong to Platoon Five in the camp, reportedly suffered a bone fracture during a morning drill on April 23 and was rushed to the clinic. Some of her colleagues, who pleaded anonymity, claimed that there was no experienced medical doctor in the clinic at the time she was taken there.
They further disclosed that the young lady was later rushed to a government-owned hospital in Ilorin, the state capital, where she reportedly died after her condition deteriorated.
