The United Kingdom has been seriously hit with the coronavirus disease with the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson and a top member of the Royal family, Prince Charles testing positive for the disease.
More than 11, 658 of the cases have been confirmed in the UK, but the actual number of people with the respiratory infection in the country is estimated to be much higher. Nearly 100,000 people have been tested for the virus but were found not to have it.
Most of the cases in the UK are in England, primarily in London.
According to figures from 27 March, England has 12,288 confirmed cases. Scotland has 1,059, Wales 921 and Northern Ireland has 298.
The government has introduced a series of restrictions on people’s movement in a bid to slow the virus’s spread.
UK figures are currently lower than some other European countries, such as Italy, for example, where there have been more than 80,000 cases and more than 8,200 deaths, The BBC reports.
