Coronavirus: Oyo state index case discharged after testing negative

The index coronavirus case in Oyo state, Nigeria, has been discharged from the isolation centre, after recovering from the virus.

The American returnee was treated at the Agbami Chest Hospital isolation centre, Ibadan, and has now been discharged after testing negative to the virus.

The index case had been on self-isolation at a private residence in Ibadan until he was transferred to the Isolation centre at Agbami, Jericho area of Ibadan on March 23, 2020.

Sharing the news on Twitter, @dondekojo wrote;

“Oyo state index case has been released from the COVID-19 isolation center after double negative tests. He has completed his treatment and fully recovered.

The American returnee initially tested negative and then tested positive after, the index case was initially on self quarantine at home before being transferred to the isolation center, after 6 days in the isolation center, he his now negative.

The patient is now back home and will be monitored.”
