According to officials, Marlen Ochoa-Uriostegui body was found in a garbage can early Wednesday in Clarissa Figueroa’s backyard in the 4100 block of West 77th Place. A burned shovel was reportedly also found in the backyard.

Marlen had been reported missing three weeks ago.

Police said she was strangled to death and ruled her death a homicide. Charges are expected to be filed against 46-year-old Clarissa.

Marlen Ochoa Lopez, 9 months pregnant, went missing after she asked for help on a Facebook group and arranged to meet Clarissa for free baby clothes.

Hours after Ochoa-Uriostegui was last seen April 23, the 46-year-old called 911 for help, saying she had given birth to a baby boy inside her home on 77th Place shortly after 6 p.m.

The suspect told emergency workers she was suffering from “post-delivery issues. Reports say the 46-year-old woman later set up a GoFundMe online campaign to raise $9,000 for her baby’s funeral, claiming the boy was sick and about to die.

Ochoa-Uriostegui was last seen leaving school around 3 p.m. at Latino Youth High School near Cullerton and California — about 8 miles from the home on 77th Place.

After she went missing on April 23, Ochoa-Uriostegui’s car was found earlier this month about a block away from the home of the woman who claimed to have given birth to the child.

An anonymous tip would later reportedly lead detectives to check the parentage of the baby with saliva from the missing woman’s husband, Yiovanni Lopez, and hair samples from Ochoa-Uriostegui’s home.

Someone from the same Facebook group had sent the conversation between Marlen and Clarissa to one of Marlen’s family members. They were able to notify authorities and Marlen’s car was found down the road from Clarissa’s neighborhood.

Marlen’s baby boy was in critical condition but sadly, was reportedly taken off life support earlier this afternoon.

Ochoa-Uriostegui lived in West Englewood, nearly 5 miles away from Clarissa’s home in the Scottsdale neighborhood.

May her soul rest in perfect peace.
