Charity Sunshine Tillemann death:

Her husband announced her death saying:

“She passed away with family by her side and sunshine on her face.”

Charity Tillemann-Dick had developed idiopathic pulmonary hypertension when she was 20 years old and had to receive two double lung transplants.

She had her first emergency lung transplant in 2009 and, later, needed another after her body started to reject them. After being placed on advanced life support, doctors found a match.

Charity inspired colleagues and audiences with her positive attitude, she maintained her international career despite her battle with the disease and having to undergo double-lung transplants.

Her roles included Violetta and Gilda, and she performed with Zoltán Kocsis, Éva Marton, Condoleeza Rice, and many others.

She also wrote a book, The Encore, about her experiences.

Charity’s last post on Facebook on the 13th of February, 2019 reads:

Friends, please excuse my long absence. A lot has happened. We bought a little building in Baltimore. We live on two levels and have two other little spaces that wonderful people live in. We’re getting a dog.

I also got cancer again and again and again. We’re fighting hard and hoping to win. But I’m also finding time and space at home for the kind of quiet creation necessary for an artist that I haven’t had in a long while.

We think we’re looking for all sorts of things in life: wealth, recognition, success. But in truth, we all have the same wants and needs.

Once our basic necessities are satisfied, we want to be seen, to be heard and mostly, to be loved by our sister sojourners in life.

If appearances mean anything, I look *pretty* bad at the moment. But however beautiful or bleak the view life offers in the moment, it is made beautiful by kindness and love.

Happy Galentine’s day💚💙💚

May her soul rest in perfect peace.
