In other news, a Norcross woman, 33-year-old Amanda Parker has been arrested by the Gwinnett County police after she allegedly caused a deadly accident on northbound Interstate 85.
The collision happened on Saturday May 11th at 6 a.m. on I-85 north of Pleasant Hill Road in unincorporated Duluth.
According to police, Amanda Parker failed to maintain her lane and hit a disabled vehicle that was on the right shoulder of the interstate. The collision pushed the diabled vehicle back onto the interstate, where it was hit by a tractor-trailer.
On Sunday, a firefighter investigating a car crash at the Cleveland Avenue exit of I-85 north was injured after a driver hydroplaned and hit him.
According to officials, the initial wreck happened about 7:45 a.m. at the Cleveland Avenue exit of I-85 north.
Atlanta fire Chief Randall Slaughter said the 47-year-old fireman had just stepped off of a firetruck to help move the crash when, a 2009 Pontiac G5 hydroplaned into the firetruck and the fireman.
The injured firefighter was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he underwent a surgery. The driver who hit the firefighter was taken into custody.
