Sebastian Coe, the president of the world athletics governing body, the IAAF, said the proposed new rules is designed to make athletics fairer.

The new rule will make women with hyper-androgynism, an elevated level of male hormones, take medication to lower it before they can participate in any competition.

However, Semenya’s lawyers says the move would be discriminatory. According to him, the world and Olympic champion’s genetic condition should be celebrated instead.
