Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw has asked a very crucial question on social media. The actress asked if now is not the best time for Nigeria to get its own cure for coronavirus.
In a tweet shared, Kate Henshaw advised Nigerians to brace up for the end of the pandemic which she says will not be business as usual.
“No one owes you anything and it definitely cannot be business as usual when we come out of the pandemic.
Isn’t it time we look at developing our own cure and ways to ease ourselves out of this situation?”.
Coronavirus is still ravaging the world even months after its emergence in Wuhan, China. The disease has according to reports, killed more than 250,000 people across the world.
With many countries striving to develop a cure for the disease, the United States announced days ago it has given approval for Remdesivir to be used as a drug to treat the virus.
Remdesivir was originally developed to treat Ebola infections, but it also showed effectiveness against SARS and MERS coronaviruses in laboratory tests. The new SARS-CoV-2 is considered a variant of the 2002 SARS pathogen.
The drug was developed by the US pharmaceutical company Gilead Sciences as GS-5734.
