Biodun Oyebanji a former lecturer and SSG has been elected as Governor of Ekiti state.
He is set to become the first Governor to succeed an incumbent of the same political affiliation in the state.
Announcing the winner in the early hours of Sunday, INEC’s Chief Returning Officer, Kayode Adebowale, said Mr Oyebanji, polled 187,057 votes to defeat his closest rival, Segun Oni, of the Social Democratic Party, who polled 82,211 votes.
Oyebanji, who was the former Secretary to the State Government SSG, to governor Kayode Fayemi, won in 15 out of the 16 council areas of the state.
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, who was the former state Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi kolawole won only his Efon Alaye council area.
