Reports reaching us has it that the agents of Baltimore police department have charged a babysitter with first degree child abuse in connection with the death of a 6 month old baby girl who was placed under her care.
32 year old Lataya Hutchins was arrested on Thursday and charged with first degree child abuse in the death of 6 month old Indira Henderson. This took place five months ago.
According to CBS Baltimore, the attention of the police was drawn to the 5400 block of Plainfield Ave., a little before 9 a.m, on November 18, 2017, to look into the case of an unconscious baby.
The responding officers found a 6 month old girl, Indira Henderson, being attended to by medics. Later, she was rushed to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Following an autopsy which was conducted on Nov. 19, 2017, and completed on March 30, 2018, the death of baby Indira was ruled a homicide by poisoning.
It was revealed that she died as a result of poisoning from Lidocaine, an anesthetic that is often used to treat or correct irregular heartbeats.
Investigation into Henderson’s death revealed that her babysitter, Hutchins, had administered an enema to Henderson because the infant had not pooped in four days.
After getting permission from Henderson’s mother, Hutchins reportedly placed a foreign object covered with the substance in the baby’s bottom, and applied a lubricant to the pipette with warm water.
Doctors found out that the lubricant used by Hutchins had Lidocaine in it, which led to the baby’s death.
