Thieves, in spite of the heavy down pour, defied the situation to take advantage of the affected residents’ predicament and robbed them at gun point.

Mrs Patricia Mokego, one of the victims at Infant Jesus road, said:

“the flood took over my property, destroyed my things, everything I have in my house was destroyed, and I have no place to be sleeping for now, the flood was too much, I am appealing to the state government to come to my aid.”

John Achei, a tricycle operator, and victim said:

“flood swept my keke into the River Niger from where I parked it, I could do nothing, it’s a problem to us here in Asaba, government should please do something to help us.”

Speaking to journalists in Asaba earlier on Tuesday, the Delta State Commissioner for Environment, Barr, John Nani, had assured Deltans of the state government’s commitment with a view to arresting the menace, and warned that deviants blocking the drains, would soon be brought to book.
