Adams was found shot in the head in an SUV in Ashley Furniture parking lot on International Speedway Boulevard.

Reports say a woman walking from the parking lot noticed Adams slumped over in the front seat of his truck and called the police.

When the responding officer arrived, police say they discovered a bullet hole in the driver’s side window, and a handgun in Adams’ right hand. Preliminary information indicates that (the) shot originated from the inside of the vehicle and it struck Adams in his head.

Police have not said if it is a suicide.

Confirming Alfred Adams death, the Bethune-Cookman University said in a statement via B-CU head coach Terry Sims:

“We are heartbroken tonight. We are praying continuously for his family.

It is difficult to put into words what huge impact Alfred has had on our program. Alfred was goal-driven to make his dreams come to a reality and was a light on our team for so many years. We offer our love, prayer, and unwavering support for his family.”

The Bethune-Cookman University campus community is deeply saddened by the loss of Alfred Adams, who passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019. Adams, a former student-athlete, completed his undergraduate education at B-CU. He was currently enrolled in graduate school at the University.

“We are brokenhearted,” said Interim President Hubert Grimes, Esquire. “Our thoughts and prayers are extended to Alfred Adams’ family, friends and loved ones. He will be greatly missed.”

Alfred is fondly remembered among faculty, staff, and students.

“We are praying continuously for his family,” said B-CU head football coach Terry Sims. “It is difficult to put into words what huge impact Alfred has had on our program. Alfred was goal-driven to make his dreams come to a reality and was a light on our team for so many years. We offer our love, prayer, and unwavering support for his family.”

Sad news. Prayers for his family and the BCU community.
