Alex Whipple criminal history, drug problem: Elizabeth Jessica Shelley
Alex Whipple has a criminal history and a drug problem, it has emerged.
Elizabeth Shelley was discovered missing from her family’s home near 100 South and 400 West at about 10 a.m. Saturday after she was last seen sleeping at about 2 a.m. that morning.
Logan police later announced that she might be with her 21-year-old uncle, Alex Whipple, who was at the family’s home Friday night and was also not found at home in the morning.
When Alexander Whipple was found near Hyrum Saturday afternoon, he was without Elizabeth and was not cooperative, police said.
According to LCPD Capt. Tyson Budge:
“He was by himself; he failed to identify himself to the deputy that located him.
“My understanding was he wasn’t being very cooperative.”

The Logan City Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating missing and endangered 5 year old Elizabeth Shelley who was last seen with her 21-year-old uncle, Alex Whipple Logan City Utah.
Alex Whipple has been arrested on probation violations.
Police, volunteers, friends and family have been searching the area near the home all day, including a nearby canal.
Mary Whipple, Elizabeth’s step-grandmother said:
“There’s not much to go on, and so we don’t even know where to start, where to go.
It’s scary. It’s the worst thing ever. Ever. The longer the day goes on, … you start thinking the worst. You don’t want to, but it’s sad.”
The ordeal has taken a toll on Elizabeth’s mother as well. Mary Whipple added:
“She’s been hysterical all morning, all day. She’s still bawling. It’s her worst nightmare. It’s the worst thing. She just wants it to go away. She wants her baby back.”
Logan Police said Alex Whipple has a criminal history and a drug problem. Budge said:
“We have real reason to be concerned for her safety,”
Officers are also searching the family’s house after securing a search warrant late Saturday evening.
The FBI and local agencies worked through the night finishing search warrants and following up on leads.
The main suspect Alex Whipple continued to be uncooperative and was booked into the Cache County Jail on an FTA warrant for absconding from probation.
Search teams are again out this morning as they continue to look for 5-year-old Elizabeth Shelley.
Young Elizabeth Shelley is about 3′ 6″ tall with brown, shoulder length hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a red tank top with blue ruffles and either blue jeans or a teal colored plaid skirt.
