Aisha Yesufu reacts as NNPP announces party is open to alliance

Human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu has broken her silence after the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) declared that it is open for an alliance with other political parties.

Recall that the National Chairman of the NNPP, Professor Rufai Alkali announced that the party was still open for mergers despite the fall out with Peter Obi’s Labour party.

Alkali had disclosed this at a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday.

He, however, insisted that the other party must share the same values with the NNPP and such merger must be on equality of partners.

He also revealed that the party must not expect the presidential candidate of the NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso to step down for the other party flag bearer.

According to him, “Parties who want to discuss with the NNPP must do so as an equal partner and must share our views on the future of the country.

“All parties are equal before the law.

“We are talking about the future of Nigeria.”

Reacting to the NNPP announcement, Yesufu stated that she thought the party had ended all intending mergers.

She wrote: “I thought we have moved on.”
