Algeria becomes the winner of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nation 2019 after beating Senegal in the final match.
This becomes the second AFCON title Algeria would win after 29 years. This time, they won it in Egypt, while the first was when they hosted in 1990.
Baghdad Bounedjah’s second minute goal was all the Desert Warriors needed to claim the crown in Egypt.
Algeria beat Nigeria in a 2-1 match during the semi finals to get to the finals. This was a close call as one of the goals was an own goal by Odion Ighalo of the Super Eagles of Nigeria. The second goal which saved them was scored by Riyad Mahrez during the 5 minutes extra time of the match.
For Senegal, the search for their first AFCON title continues despite coming so close to it like they did in 2002.
Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo, also won the Golden Boot after emerging the highest goal scorer of the tournament with five goals.
